Next Stop for Bob Knight?

The "Mr. Monday" column in The Oklahoman is kind enough to offer several job search suggestions for the newly-unemployed Bob Knight. Our favorite: new "rules enforcement officer" for the NCAA.

Kidding aside, conjecture about Knight's next destination is inevitable. He is good friends with Bill Parcells, the legendary football coach who has "retired" about a dozen times. And in a SportsCenter interview that aired right after his sudden retirement, Knight responded to all questions about future plans by pointedly refusing to rule anything out.

That being the case, the rumor mill is already churning out stories.

• A return to the Big 10? The Chicago Tribune raises the possibility of Knight taking over for Bruce Webber at Illinois.
• The News and Tribune thinks the Big 10 angle makes the most sense as well, but suggests that Knight's destination would be Northwestern.
• Heading out West? OregonLive.com has reports of an underground movement to bring Knight to Oregon State.

We're just scratching the surface here. Expect the General's name to be associated with every big-time job opening this offseason. Which begs the question: would you want Bob Knight coaching your favorite team?
