Friday Afternoon Recap: Georgetown, Texas, Butler
(2) Texas 74, (15) Austin Peay 54: Another high seed/low seed blowout -- at one point, Texas guard A.J. Abrams had 16 points and the entire Austin Peay roster had just 15. Abrams finished with 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting, leading the Longhorns to a convincing 20-point victory.
(7) Butler 81, (10) South Alabama 61: A lot of observers felt the Butler Bulldogs were mistreated by the NCAA selection committee. Ranked 11th in the final polls, you'd assume they'd be in line for a four seed. Instead, they were made a seven. Adding insult to injury, they were sent to play what amounted to an away game, facing South Alabama -- in Birmingham.
Those obstacles? Forgotten. Butler blasted the Jaguars, canning 15 of 28 three-pointers (.536) en route to a 20-point win. Pete Campbell hit eight of those treys on his way to a team-high 26 points.
