Obama at Chapel Hill
Wednesday April 30, 2008
Ordinarily, a college coach caught barking instructions to his players during an offseason scrimmage would get a strongly-worded memo from the NCAA police. Roy Williams' appearance at a pickup game on the UNC campus seems to be an exception -- and if he does get into trouble, he might be able to wrangle a full presidential pardon come January.
See, one of the players was Barack Obama.
As Robbi Pickeral reported in the Charlotte News & Observer:
Obama toured the UNC locker room with Williams and his wife, Wanda, then played pickup with some team members, including consensus All-America Tyler Hansbrough, Marcus Ginyard, Marc Campbell, Alex Stepheson and Deon Thompson...Now, I'll have to consult with one of About.com's politics guides... but if I'm not mistaken, under "equal time" laws, Hansbrough and company have to let Hillary Clinton "get next."Williams, who watched the play from a chair on the sideline, called out at one point: "You've got the future president of the United States wide open."
