Krzyzewski Coming Back for 2012 Games

Wednesday July 8, 2009
Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski will return as coach of Team USA.

The Boston Globe reports, citing sources close to the coach, reports that Krzyzewski will return to lead Team USA at the World Championships in 2010 and the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Coach K's staff from the Beijing Games, which included Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni, Trailblazers coach Nate McMillan, and Jim Boeheim of Syracuse, is also expected back.

A formal announcement will be made on July 21st, as part of a mini-camp for new additions to Team USA.

Krzyzewski becomes the first coach since the immortal Hank Iba to coach Team USA through more than one Olympic tournament. Iba coached the 1964 and 1968 teams to gold medals and the 1972 team to a controversial silver-medal finish.
