Knicks Re-Sign Lee, Robinson
The Knicks have (finally) reached agreement on one-year deals with restricted free agents David Lee and Nate Robinson, the New York Daily News reports.
Lee's deal is reportedly worth about $7 million, and Robinson's about $5 million. That's a far cry from what they were seeking -- Lee was looking for a long-term deal worth $10-$12 million annually. But both players did get significant raises above the qualifying offers they were due as restricted free agents ($2.6 and $2.9 million for Lee and Robinson, respectively).
The generosity may indicate that team president Donnie Walsh is hoping to "make nice" with both players in the hopes of re-signing them after this season. Of course, all the Knicks' plans for 2010 and beyond hinge on signing one of the top free agents in next summer's class -- LeBron James or Dwyane Wade in particular.
