Shorthanded Kings Lose Martin for 6-8 Weeks
The Sacramento Kings -- already playing without projected starter Francisco Garcia -- got more bad news this week, when they learned leading scorer Kevin Martin will be sidelined for up to two months.
Martin suffered a non-displaced fracture of the navicular bone in his left wrist when he got tangled with the Grizzlies' Allen Iverson in Monday night's game. TNT's David Aldridge reports Martin will opt for surgery to correct the break; the projected recovery time is 6-8 weeks.
Martin is the third-leading scorer in the NBA, averaging 30.6 points per game. He'll be replaced in the lineup by Beno Udrih, who will take over at point guard, allowing rookie Tyreke Evans to play in Martin's place at shooting guard.
