Sick of seeing NBA defenders drop like they've been shot at the slightest contact? So, apparently, is the league office.
For the coming season, the league has implemented a new anti-flopping campaign. Questionable plays will be reviewed by the league office and players found guilty of flopping will be warned or fined.
Will it work? Maybe indirectly. The fines top out at $30,000, which is steep for you or me but a pittance to most NBA players. But maybe, once certain players (cough, Shane Battier, cough) are publicly outed as floppers, referees will be less likely to make calls in their favor.
