Unless Eddie Sutton lands another "interim" position next season or Bob Knight turns in his collection of ESPN v-neck sweaters for a set with a college logo, Mike Kryzyewski will start the 2008-08 season as the winningest active coach in college basketball.

He won't have much competition for the top spot, either. With Lute Olson and his 780 wins out of the picture, competition for that second spot should be lively. Two hall-of-famers from the Big East, Connecticut's Jim Calhoun and Syracuse's Jim Boeheim, rank second and third, respectively, and are separated by a mere three wins.

When last we saw tenth-place Ben Braun he was coaching California, but he was let go after the season and has since been hired at Rice. His replacement, ex-Stanford and Golden State Warriors coach Mike Montgomery, is a new addition to our chart.

Last Updated: February 28, 2008: Congratulations to Connecticut's Jim Calhoun, who won his 800th game this week.
