Tired of being bitten by zombies and reading 25 random facts about everyone you know? Time to pimp your Facebook profile with some applications that show your love of college basketball.
Wilson Sporting Goods (the guys who made Tom Hanks' special friend in
Cast Away) and the NCAA teamed up to create an application with a real purpose. Add the "Ultimate Assist" application to your profile and "pass" the virtual basketball to your Facebook friends. For every pass, Wilson donates 10 cents to Coaches vs. Cancer.
The NCAA Tournament teams won't be revealed for weeks, but you can get a jump on
March Madness by playing the 2009 Bracket Challenge. Pick the correct Final Four and you could win a plasma TV.
Create a list of the stadiums you've visited -- college and pro -- and compare lists with your friends. (I've got 25 venues on my list, but the application seems to count Madison Square Garden for college basketball, pro basketball and hockey.)
Bracket pool manager -- create your own NCAA Tournament pool with Facebook friends, or join a public group.
Pick winners of the games in your favorite conference -- there are versions for the Big East, ACC, Big 10, Pac 10, Big 12 and SEC.
