Evans could be the guard with the highest ceiling in the 2009 draft. Unlike the Ricky Rubios and Stephen Currys, Evans has ideal NBA guard size, at 6'5" and 222 pounds -- he's not a 'tweener or a college two that will be forced to play the point as a pro because of his size. That said, he doesn't have a full-fledged point guard skill set just yet -- he's far more comfortable creating off the dribble than running a set half court offense. As such, he might be the type of player who breaks in as a scoring guard and transitions to the point after gaining a little NBA experience.
NBA Player Comparison: A couple of recent vintage... UCLA guard Russell Westbrook started out playing a lot of two for Oklahoma City last season, and wound up as one of the more promising young points by year's end... and the Grizzlies' O.J. Mayo may eventually make the same transition.
