For most of this season, the Cal Bears were regarded as the best team in the Pac 10. But in a year when traditional powers like UCLA, Arizona and USC had their worst seasons in decade, "top team in the Pac 10" is the faintest of faint praise. Also worth noting: the Bears didn't beat any quality opponents outside their conference -- they lost to Syracuse, Ohio State, Kansas and New Mexico. They also failed to seal the deal in the Pac 10 tournament, losing to Washington in the final.One point in their favor: the Bears are an experienced team, with four seniors playing significant roles in Mike Montgomery's rotation.
