But when that walk-on is also a top-ranked quarterback... he gets more press than most presidential candidates.
Terrelle Pryor is one of those irritatingly talented athletes -- he was the number-one ranked prep quarterback in the nation last season and a top-30 basketball prospect. If you asked him to play team handball, water polo or synchronized diving, he'd probably be good at those too.
At 6'6", Pryor has good but not great size for a college-level wing player. He's at his best posting up or scoring from about 15-feet-and-in, but has a solid enough jumper to hit an open three. And as you'd expect from a top quarterback, he has excellent court vision and good passing skills. His dribbling could use work, particularly going to the left.
Will He or Won't He?
Pryor has yet to give a formal indication as to whether or not he'll play hoops for the Buckeyes. He reportedly has a standing offer from Ohio State coach Thad Matta to join the team as a walk-on, and according to several reports, that was one of the reasons he chose Ohio State over some of his other suitors. Playing football and basketball at the highest collegiate level is tough, but not impossible -- just ask Charlie Ward, Donovan McNabb or Ronald Curry.Poll:Should Terrelle Pryor play basketball at Ohio State?
