Warren first made a name for himself in the summer of 2007 with this ridiculous dunk at the Nike Memorial Day Classic. (The victim of that Frederic Weis treatment, incidentally, is Xavier Henry -- a top-ten prospect in the class of 2009).
His ascent continued at the 2008 McDonald's All American Game, where he posted a game-high 23 points for the West Squad.
And this summer, he's making headlines with his mouth -- trash-talking the likes of Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.
So he's got a big mouth -- he's got the game to back it up. Warren's game is everything you'd want from a shooting guard. As that YouTube video illustrates, he's a tremendous athlete who can blow by people on his way to the rim, and who doesn't shy away from contact. And he should have a lot of opportunities to drive -- with shooting range that extends beyond 20 feet, defenders will have to respect his perimeter game.
Scouts also say Warren -- smack-talk aside -- has a remarkably mature game. He's highly adept at passing out of double-teams, setting up teammates with open shots, and generally making an offense flow better.
He should emerge as an outstanding complement to power forward Blake Griffin on an Oklahoma team that should challenge Kansas and Texas for Big 12 supremacy.
