How to Dunk

Resistive Jumps
The next step would be resistive jumps. Take the squat jumps we just explained and add resistance -- in the form of handheld dumbbells or ankle weights. You could also add resistance bands, basically larger rubber bands that work on elasticity to build resistance.

Scissor jumps are another example. Start with one leg behind you and one leg flexed at the hip and knee in front of you. The exercise is to jump as high as possible and switch positions with your legs.

Box jumps also work. Use a platform and jump off of it, concentrating on a soft landing and good balance. You can also obviously jump from the ground up to it.

With all resistive jumps, try for a good balanced landing on the balls of both feet.
