The Wooden Award is the college basketball equivalent of the Heisman Trophy, an honor bestowed upon the best player in the nation, as selected by a panel of media and significant voices in the basketball community.

The official award criteria states that candidates must excel on both offense and defense and exhibit strong team play, display strong character on and off the court, and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.

The only two-time winner of the Wooden Award is Virginia center Ralph Sampson, who was honored in 1982 and 83. North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough could become the second two-time winner, but he'll face stiff competition from the likes of Oklahoma's Blake Griffin and Davidson's Stephen Curry.
