Harrison Barnes

Small Forward, Class of 2010

The consensus top prospect in the class of 2010, Harrison Barnes has announced he'll play for Roy Williams and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Quick Facts

  • Home Town: Ames, Iowa
  • College Team: North Carolina (verbal)
  • Position: Small Forward
  • Height and Weight: 6-8, 209

Scouting Report

Barnes has the talent and skill to become the next great Carolina wing scorer. He has range out to the three-point line and a highly-developed mid-range game that you don't often see in a player his age.

That maturity-of-game also shows in his composure; Barnes doesn't get flustered by defensive pressure or allow the opposition dictate the tempo of the game. A good rebounder, he can grab a board on the defensive end and start the break with an outlet pass or lead the break himself.

His ability to create for teammates in the half court could use some work, but that will come.

College Choice

Many observers had Barnes signed, sealed and delivered to Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils, but his college choice is a little further down Tobacco Road. Barnes announced he'll play for Duke's archrivals, the Carolina Tar Heels, as the anchor of another stellar Roy Williams recruiting class.
