Profile:

Abdul Gaddy is one of the top-rated recruits in the high school class of 2009... both Scout.com and Scout.com call him a top-ten prospect and rank him second at the point guard position. His point guard instincts have been called "uncanny," and the expectation is that, when he bulks up a bit, he'll develop into an elite scorer.

That, and the fact that he's uncommitted going into his senior year at Tacoma's Bellarmine Prep, would be more than enough to generate lots of attention. But an ill-considered phone call from a University of Memphis booster has upped that attention level exponentially.

Gaddy is the player at the center of a pending NCAA investigation into recruiting practices at the University of Memphis. Long story short -- the president of FedEx -- a major contributor to Memphis -- placed a call to Gaddy's mother, a FedEx customer service representative, in early July. Any contact between boosters and family members of recruits is strictly forbidden by NCAA regulations; the Tigers may face substantial penalties as a result.

Recruiting News

Gaddy verbally committed to play at Arizona, but rescinded that commitment when three Wildcat assistants left the program earlier this year.

He reportedly renewed that commitment to Lute Olson's program in September.
