Tyreke Evans -- one of the top recruits in the class of 2008 -- didn't sign on the dotted line until after March Madness had come and gone. It appears that several of the top players in the next year's class will follow Evans' lead; big names like Lance "Born Ready" Stephenson and John Wall have yet to commit. Here's a look at some of the top unsigned players in the class of 2009.
The top-rated point guard according to all the big scouting services, many thought Raleigh, NC native John Wall was signed, sealed and delivered to Baylor after Bears coach Scott Drew gave Wall's AAU coach a job last summer. But the fall signing period came and went with no announcement. Does that mean Wall is still in play? Or is this just a "cooling off period" designed to make the "package deal" a bit less obvious?
St. John's suffering fan base is still holding out hope that Lance Stephenson -- out of Coney Island's Lincoln High -- will follow in the footsteps of highly-touted New York ballers like Ron Artest, Felipe Lopez, Malik Sealy, Mark Jackson and Chris Mullin. "Born Ready" is also considering offers from UCLA, USC, Kansas, Indiana and Memphis.
3. Renardo Sidney
A Jackson, Mississippi native currently living in Los Angeles, Renardo Sidney is considered one of the top power forward prospects in the class of 2009... and a player who might be ranked even higher if not for his tendency to play smaller than his 6'9" frame. Sidney is reportedly considering offers from both his hometown (Mississippi State) and adopted hometown (UCLA, USC), as well as UNLV and Arizona State.4. DaShonte Riley
A big man from Detroit Country Day School -- the same school that produced Chris Webber -- DaShonte Riley is a pencil-thin 6'11", 220-pound center with the ability to run the floor, handle, and hit a mid-range jumper. Riley initially committed to Georgetown but backed out before signing a letter of intent. Several Big Ten schools are reportedly in the mix now, including Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State.5. Kyryl Natyazhko
The fact that Kyryl Natyazhko hasn't decided on a school yet shouldn't surprise... the 6'10" native of Ukraine has been in this country for less than a year. Natyazhko isn't an eye-popping athlete, but he's a highly-skilled and well-rounded pivot. He is drawing attention from schools like Miami, Baylor, LSU and Xavier.
